∞ there

2026   PERFORMANCE (LIVE ACT)
TagTEAMS Submission - For your consideration

INTRO

Over the last few years, I have been working in the composition and transformation of sound from a visual domain. I am particularly interested in graphic scores, code, and modular synthesizers. I have sent another project separately as a video installation. However, for TagTEAMS 2026, I propose a special performance that will mix in real-time refreshed content from previously finished projects and new material.

DESCRIPTION:

"∞ there" is an audiovisual performance that translates multiple aspects of our dystopian condition to the viewer into sounds and images. Modern machine surveillance, military notation systems, doomscrolling pseudo-headlines, and code-generated nuclear weaponry come together to present a uniform vision of our problematic modern society.

A graphic score, visible to the audience, serves as an arrangement mechanism and expands the listening experience. Most of the sound has been generated using modular synthesizers, and a smaller portion using field recordings.

SOURCE MATERIAL

The image below documents the source of the finished material and its arrangement:

a. The central part and notational system of the projection features fictional confrontational scenarios from the “Neutral Friend, Unknown Enemy” project. Above, footage of the perforance at the Ammerman Center for Arts & Technology (USA).

a. The graphic score for the performance is also taken from the “Neutral Friend, Unknown Enemy” project and it will serve as an orchestration mechanism.

  b. Dystopian machine-generated headlines will be taken from “The MeanTimes” project. Above an example of a series (topic: nuclear warfare).

c. Surveillance animations will be taken from the P.S.A.A. Post-Surveillance Alternative Atlas project, that uses object recognition to detect human figures in an image. The video above is an excerpt presented at the Athens Digital Arts Festival.

d. Immigration and detention imagery is part of the unreleased “The New Colossus * 2019 Amendment” project. TagTEAMS will be the world premiere for this content. Above a conceptual video of the code-generated animations.

e. Additional sounds will be taken from my recent audiovisual release “Music for Control Panels”, inspired by the aesthetics of old computer terminals. The project approaches the graphic score from a computer terminal perspective. The video above was the video installation featured at the FILE Festival 2025 in Brazil.

If the festival setting allows, I would like to bring a few printed copies to distribute amongst the Thai audience.

All the materials above will be prepared and live remixed during a live act.

TECHNICAL / TRAVEL CONSIDERATIONS
Through my institution, the California State University, I have some budget to make the trip to Bangkok. However, if selected, I will not be able to bring my modular system. I will instead bring a live sampler (Octatrack) and a laptop and will remix all pre-recorded materials live. Earlier notification will allow me to make travel arrangements.

REQUIRED STAGE ITEMS
-A bright 4k projector, a PA w/subwoofer, a very dark room.
-On stage, HDMI connection for video, three power outlets.
-A mixer or two 1/4 in stereo cables for out signal.
-A video + soundcheck will be ideal one day before or during the morning of the performance day.
FINAL THOUGHTS ABOUT THE FORMAT
I initially conceived the project as a live performance.
If the selection committee considers it more feasible, I can also present the project as a live installation instead. Due to the high level of detail in the graphics, a large 4K projection with sound (3-6m tall) would be ideal or a room with multiple screens where different animations can be shown at the same time.

I can provide 4K media players if necessary.
